Zuru Mini Brand Books

I love books, and I love minis.

I do have a bit of an addiction to the Zuru mini brand books.

These are too small for AG. They are approximately half the size of AG books.

They are however, perfect for mini dolls or for 1/12 size dollhouses.

They have text inside that you can read with a microscope.

They're really cute and fun and addictive! Each surprise ball comes with three mini books and costs $8 to $10.

They also come with a bookmark and another accessory, like a cat, a candle, a lamp or a bookcase shelf.

I had a friend wondering about the scale, so I realized that I should share a picture to give people a better idea.

I would also like to point out that the dollhouse is not even done yet, and it is already making it easier to do a quick photo shoot!

Making Mini Books!

I have been making more mini books for the dolls lately!

You can see that I am a big Agatha Christie fan. And she was so popular. Kit, Addy, Nanea, Maryellen... they could all read her books.

I am also a huge fan of Jessica Townsend's Nevermoor series. I can't say enough good things about it.

The Paddington book was inspired by a friend, and I have a mini to plush to go with it!

Making Mini Books

While I was in recovery from COVID, I was making a lot of mini books.

Sitting up was about all I could do, and making something gave me a sense of satisfaction.

I made over 50 books. I am not sure how many, probably around 70. I stopped counting at 50.

I made the entire series of Phryne Fisher books! These are obviously under copyright, so they are just for me to enjoy.

These books are the right size for AG dolls, although they can be slightly oversized books for fashion dolls.

If you are interested in making mini books, I suggest checking out Jinjia Mixed Goods on Pixie Faire!

A Reading Binge

Here is Anneliese with all of the books that I got recently from Laura's Little Loot!

I love reading, and I am so excited to have these favorites from Laura's Little Loot.

Most of her mini books are first editions that include full text, when permissible by copyright laws.

All the wonderful books!

I will likely never own a L. M. Montgomery first edition, but thanks to Laura's Little Loot, I own three first editions from the Anne series in miniature!

I always preferred A Little Princess as a kid, but now that I have a garden of my own, A Secret Garden is becoming more of a favorite!

And Fantastic Beasts, with Harry's signature on the front!

I am so happy with these books.

I don't take pictures of my mini books as often as I should, but they make me so happy.

Reading an American Girl Classic

The American Girl 35th anniversary is making me, and many others, feel nostalgic.

It inspired me to take pictures of my dolls reading the American Girl books together with the mini dolls.

As usual, Molly is not my jam, so she gets left out.

The other original five AG dolls are all represented here.

It's just such a classic moment, I think, a girl reading with a doll next to a tree.

And I am proud of the four glass eyed mini dolls that I own. It's a very intentional small collection, and one that I love. I think they are very cute.

American Girl of Today #6, Anne, reads with Felicity Merriman.

American Girl of Today #2, Meg, reads with Kirsten Larsen.

Girl of the Year Kanani Akina reads with Samantha Parkington.

Girl of the Year Joss Kendrick reads with Addy Walker.

Girl of the Year Jess McConnell reads with Josefina Montoya.

Laura's Little Loot Going Out of Business

Laura's Little Loot is sadly no longer in business.

She has a few books left for sale, and I bought several.

I thought I would give her a signal boost by sharing the rest of her stock, because these are amazing, well-made doll-sized books at fantastic prices. They are between $4- $6 each, plus shipping.

I just bought the following, so they are no longer available: Quidditch Through the Ages, Another Monster at the end of this book, Anna Karenina and the Tales of Beedle the Bard.

To purchase, e-mail her at cookieie2000@hotmail.com.

Joss in the Garden

Joss can't go to the beach, so she is spending lots of time in the garden!

She is hanging out with Murph.

She is also reading a lot! This book is Poems from The Hobbit!

I hope you are finding ways to get outdoor time also!

1918 Girl Scout Handbook for Dolls

Windstar of Jinjia Mixed Goods has outdone herself this time.

She made a pattern to create the original 1918 Girl Scout handbook.

According to her, at this time the requirements for girls were the same as for boys.

The book has printed pages inside that describe the different Girl Scout ranks and the merit badges that girls could earn.

The book is super detailed. It has pictures of the merit badges and more.

I was very glad that I did not have to earn the Morse code badge! It sounds very difficult.

I am SO excited to add this to my collection of doll books!

This book is not currently listed on her etsy shop.

If you wish to purchase the pattern to print and create this mini book, you can message Windstar through her shop on etsy, Jinjia Mixed Goods.

Mini Books: Laura's Little Loot

I love dolls, and I love books. My job includes books. I never leave the house without a book.

So when it comes to books for dolls, I am pretty obsessed. I want my dolls to have all my favorite books, and that despite the fact that AG dolls can barely hold a book in their hands. I am held back only by common sense and budget.

Luckily, there's a shop for that.

Laura's Little Loot makes custom mini books in several sizes. She does an amazing job. The books look just like full scale one.  You can choose to have a book with text inside, or with blank pages. The ones with blank pages cost less.

Laura's Little Loot respects copyright laws. That means that she only prints the full text of a book if the book is in public domain. If you want a book with text of one not in the public domain, like Harry Potter, she will put a summary of the book's events inside its pages, but not the original text.

Here are the pages inside Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which summarizes the book:

I have placed many orders from this shop, and never been disappointed. You have to be patient; it might take a month or two for your book to be completed. In return, she has been patient with me when I could not immediately log in to my Paypal and pay her.

I chose to have the covers from first editions on my books when possible. They also have dust covers.

Kit is helping me model the mini books.

She enjoys Alice in Wonderland.

Zia loves Anne of Green Gables.

Here is a look at the text inside Anne of Green Gables:

Kit reveals how she can read books published after her time period by peeking into River Song's journal from Doctor Who.

(This one actually just has blank pages- but the pages look parchment-y, just like River Song's real journal.)

Laura Ingalls is really proud to show off the Little House on the Prairie Collection.

It even has a picture of her inside!

I have also gotten Day Dreams by Kenneth Graham, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowlings and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.

I do try to keep in mind that my dolls are only 10 or 11 when I pick out books, which is why these are all kid's books so far.

My wish list is a lot longer, including The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery, Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie, A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett... I could go on.

In fact, it's probably time for me to place another order!

So, if you like the mini books in the new American Girl Nighttime Accessory sets, but can't afford the $40 or so each to buy all of them, send an e-mail to Laura's Little Loot at lauraslittleloot@hotmail.com and she can hook you up with any mini book you want!
