Meet Melody!

I finally opened Melody! I bought her around the same time as Ellie, but I waited  to open her.

If I get too many new dolls at once, I don't bond with them.

Part of the incentive for opening her when I did was weather that allowed me to take her outside and take pictures of her!

Palisades Muppet Packaging

It's been a while since I posted about Palisades Muppets action figures. I thought I would share with you some of the new in box Muppets that I have.

I didn't open these immediately, and saved the box opening for a rainy day when I need an emotional boost.

Vintage Doll- Bouncin' Baby

Bouncin' Babies were (was?) a doll line in the 80s and early 90s.

I am going to date myself here, but I got this doll in 1991.

Vintage Doll- Walking Bride Doll

This is one of my mom's childhood dolls. She is from the 1950s. I have no idea what company made her. There are no markings on her body which would tell.

My grandmother made her dress, thus resulting in her name "the walking bride doll." She doesn't have a proper name and never has!

When you move her legs, her head turns from side to side. Her arms are connected with a rubber band, and can also be moved up and down.

I have always thought she was the most beautiful doll. Not because she is blonde, because it was hard to find dolls that WERE not blonde when I was growing up. I just adore her face.

Her eyes look blue or green, depending on the lighting. They are sleep eyes.

She is about ten inches high.

I am glad that this doll is still around to enjoy today. My grandmother was a talented seamstress and I enjoy the doll clothes that she made.
I have always wished that she had been able to teach me sewing. Her Parkinson's was too advanced by the time that I was old enough to start sewing. Still, I have been able to teach myself and I am beginning to catch up to her in skill!

Doll Musings

I just retrieved some of my dolls from a closet at my parent's house. To be specific, my First Arrival Felicity, Kit, and my Hearts for Hearts dolls. There will be lots of pictures to come!

It just struck me, how much more peaceful I felt when I had them in my arms. Mind you, I was worried up until that moment because I couldn't find them.

But they really, really mean something to me and I feel so much better with the dolls in my life.

My mother is a minimalist and I feel bad that I am not, that I need my dolls. And I am a grown woman.

There are so many people who look down on dolls as a hobby, you know? It's not something you share a lot, unless you are very confident in yourself. I share on this blog, but I don't share my dolls much in Real Life.

Still, it doesn't hurt anyone, it makes me happy, and I am not going to change anything soon.

The gang is definitely here to stay!

Our Generation Displays at Target

I have been checking out a lot of Targets lately, looking at the Our Generation selection.

One Target had twenty of the bongo drum accessory sets, another had no small accessory sets at all, but lots of the larger items.

That Target had some really lovely glass case displays of Our Generation dolls.

These displays are so lovely, I am sure that they will help sell dolls! It's like the American Girl stores on a smaller scale.

I just wish that Targets would actually stock a better selection of items! I want that typewriter!

They didn't have any of this tent, even though it was on display. It's been on my maybe list for a long time.

They had approximately twenty of this doll on clearance. I think this was an ill-advised attempt to cash in on the Frozen craze.
Her face mold looked especially weird to me.
I will keep looking for the elusive but yearned-after typewriter!

Molly Thrift Store Find

I found Pleasant Company's trunk for Molly! It was $20 and I found it in a pile of stuff in the garage (!) of my local thrift store. It...
