More Betsy McCall and the Ai dolls

 Betsy McCall is perfectly sized to be a big sister to the Ai dolls.

My friend and I got a few pictures of them together.

Lottie Doll Canoe Playset Review

I have been eyeing the Lottie doll canoe playset. I really want it for Mia, because Mia is a wildlife photographer, and I like to take pictures of wild birds while I am canoeing.

The price seemed a bit high for me, though. So when I found a playset for a lower price on Amazon because the box was beaten up, I jumped on it.

The box is very pretty, but I am not keeping it.

The playset includes a canoe, two wetsuits, two life jackets, two paddles and two fishing poles.

I could have done without the wetsuits. I don't use them while canoeing and don't plan to use them on the dolls.

I first tried posing Lottie Dolls Wildlife Photographer Mia and Kid Activist Meg in the boat.

It it awesome. It has seats with backs, so the dolls sit up well.

The paddles can either be snapped in place on the side of the boat or they can be held by the doll.

I didn't test to see if it floats on its own, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The life jackets are easy to take on and off. 

I bet that the fishing poles would also snap into place on the side of the boat.

Next I tried it on the American Girl mini dolls.

They can also wear the lifejackets and hold the paddles! I was very impressed!

Then I tried it with the Ai dolls Lawn Daisy and King Protea. 

I didn't get them to hold the paddles, but I was very happy that they could also wear the life jackets.

It didn't matter too much that they can't hold the paddles, since they snap in place. It's very clever.

This is a really fun and versatile set. It can work with many varieties of small dolls.

I am so happy with this!

Jun Planning Ai doll Hyacinth

I have always been uncomfortable with having Jun Planning Ai doll Hyacinth lying on her back.

To me, it looks uncomfortable and posed.

I finally posed her the way I sleep- on her side, clutching her teddy bear.

Yes, she looks much more comfortable and happier now!

I have put her on display like this.

She almost looks like a fairy tale character.

Lori doll Swing Set

Some time ago, I bought the Lori doll swing set.

I thought it would be great to display small dolls that aren't always steady on their own feet.

As it was the middle of winter, I waited to open it, and I just now got around to taking pictures.

Yup, I really like this swing and am happy to have it in my collection.

It really swings, and it came with some cute mini doll-sized lemonade in a cup and pitcher.
Perfect for hot summer days!

Ai Dolls at the Park

Pirate Ai Doll Visit!

Coincidentally, at the same time I had a visit from my friend, the Ai dolls had a visit from their favorite pirate friend!

Okay, it's not a coincidence at all. :)

These aren't the best pictures, but I was trying not to wake a sick person in the next room while I took them, ha ha.

New Pajamas

My friend came over to visit with several pieces of felt. "Let's make pajamas for the tiny dolls," she said. "Let's not use a pattern!"

I was extremely skeptical, because I didn't think I was that good. To my surprise, I did actually make some pajamas, and they are pretty cute.

My friend didn't finish hers yet, because she was more ambitious than I was. She was trying to make a tiny version of Kit's new One Piece Pajamas..

However, mine is finished, and I am so glad she pushed me to challenge myself!

I did "cheat" and use a pattern for the top- but it was definitely not my idea to not use a pattern!

Ai doll Hyacinth

I wanted to share more about my Ai dolls, and what they look like in the box.

I am focusing on Hyacinth, because I haven't shown her yet and it was easy to locate her box and accessories.

I got her at my local Tuesday Morning, where I first got hooked on Ai dolls. They didn't look as appealing in pictures on the Internet. My first one was Phlox (still my favorite), whom I took straight to work and showed a co-worker. She immediately ran to Tuesday Morning and bought Azalea.

The box is very nice and sturdy. It is cushiony inside, and it closes with a magnet.  The doll is held in place with ribbons, and is easy to get out, even though the knot under her chin can be hard to undo.

Hyacinth is a sleeping eye doll. She comes with a crochet-type bassinet, a bear hat, and a tiny toy bear.

The pillow is glued down inside the bassinet, and the bear hat does not fit her. It is mysterious to me anyway. Why wear a bear hat when you are sleeping?

Some of the Ai doll accessories are very mysterious indeed, especially the peach-shaped pillow that Phlox comes with. It is too big for her to put her arms around or do anything with.

I admit that the bassinet kind of sold me on this doll, and was a wise move for the Jun Planning Company. If you have a sleeping doll, you need a place to display it in.

She really is cute. Here she is trying to wear a hat that is too small.

Her dress opens in the front with velcro. She has matching bloomers on underneath. The underwear on the Ai dolls has a surprising amount of variety.

This is the closet I can come to taking her dress off unless I want to take it off permanently. The sleeve does not fit well over the fingers of that hand.  This gives you a better view of her joints.

The Ai dolls have a lot of posibility, which is somewhat wasted on a doll that sleeps all the time.

Here is the stupid bear hat- which does not have any eyes that I can see- and the stupid collar. The collar is not attached to the dress and does not lie flat. I hate it.

I actually took her wig off and used it and Bee Balm for a while, so I can say that the wig is also on the small size. It looks okay on Hyacinth, but it was really too small for Bee Balm.

At the moment I prefer them in their original wigs, but perhaps in the future I will buy Bee Balm a different black wig and hope that it fits better.

These dolls are really fun, and a great bargain for the price they were in Tuesday Morning. They are currently going for more on ebay and Amazon.

American Girl Mini Dolls

I was the target age for American Girl mini dolls when they were first released. They were targeted as dolls for your dolls.

I loved this idea, and my very spoiled Anne had her own American Girl dolls as soon as I could save up for them.

Of the original five minis, I do not have Molly or Josefina. I dislike Molly, and I do no like the mini Josefina.

The original minis have wigs and inset eyes, usually called glass eyes in the fandom. even though they are plastic.

Cute little Addy. She even has tiny earrings.

No one ever take pictures of Addy's hairstyle from the back. I wish they would.

The laces won't stay tied.

Mini Felicity. The elastic in her hair broke, and the soles of her shoes could use a spot of glue. but I am proud that I have not lost a shoe. They fall off constantly.

The ruffle at her neck and sleeves is way too big.

The American Girl minis have changed greatly since these came out, but I still prefer these.

 I think they are cute. 

I have some newer ones too, which I will share in due course.

These minis are exactly six inches tall. The new ones are even taller.

They are a good size to be big sisters to the Ai dolls! Sort of. Look how motherly Addy is!

Live Well and Prosper

As I have mentioned, I am not a Trekkie. However, I have friends who are.

I decided to make them an Ai doll sized Lieutenant Uhura dress, so their dolls can cosplay to their nerdy heart's content.

Phlox was my model, who made sure that the tiny dress did indeed fit.

I think it was a success!

I made the dress by adapting a pattern from Wren*Feathers.
