Fox Hoodie!

I made another hoodie from the 14 inch Requiem Designs Pattern.

This time I made a fox!

When I was little, I was not afraid of monsters under the bed. Oh no.

I was afraid of a fox in the closet.

I don't think anyone could be afraid of this adorable fox!

I did make the fox because of my childhood fear. I thought it would be funny.

I worked hard to replicate the markings of a fox as best I could, like making black-tipped ears.

I think it's really cute.

She also has a tail!

And just wait, because I have more hoodies made with this pattern!

Pattern Review: Requiem Art Designs 14 Inch Hoodie

I made a Piglet hoodie!

I have always been a Winnie the Pooh fan.
It was so easy to make this pattern into Piglet.

And it is SO cute.
 What's not to love?
Here is Piglet, for comparison purposes.

This pattern was very easy to make. It has raglan sleeves, which are very easy to make and also worked perfectly for differentiating between Piglet's arms and the onsie/bathing suit that he wears.

The hoodie has a slit in the back to let the doll's hair out, which works so well.

I had to take a full body picture to show that Tipi is wearing pink shoes to match her hoodie.

Consuelo and Tipi are happy to show off their new clothes!

I really like this pattern. It was easy, and I have so many ideas for different combos to make.

It's a great piece of clothing for colder weather, and it doubles as a Halloween costume!

What more can you ask for?

A New Dress for Julie

I guess I am on a roll! Here is another dress for Julie from Simplicity 8575.

This dress went together very easily.

I really like Peter Pan collars, but with this exaggerated Peter Pan collar, I did not want the collar and cuffs to be white. Boring.

I am really pleased with the color of the dress and the way the fabrics match.

The flowered fabric, for all I know, is actually from the 70s. I think my mom bought it at a garage sale. It is old.

But it worked perfectly for a 70s doll dress. I think it was meant to be.

Normally, I don't even like maroon, but it is so perfect on this dress, and it goes well with Julie's eyes.

This is another great fall dress, as well as a good back to school dress, and I am really pleased with it.

The flower Julie is holding is an actual sunflower off my sunflower plant. It's so small that the scale is maybe a bit small for a sunflower for Julie. But it is adorable!

I love all of these pictures of Julie wearing this dress and holding the flower.

Animal Hoodie Ideas to Sew

I have so many ideas for making these adorable animal hoodies from Requiem Art Designs for 14 inch dolls.

For several days, my main idea was to make a fox hoodie. I went out and bought the fabric and everything.

Then I thought of Winnie the Pooh.

And it would be easy to make Piglet to go along with Pooh bear.

And, oh! A red panda!

Reindeer for Christmas!

There are so many cute possibilities. And just in time for Halloween, too!

Pattern Review: Requiem Art Designs Wa-Loli 14 Inch Doll Dress

This pattern is from a designer I had not heard of before. That designer is Requiem Art Designs.

The designer has lots of really cool patterns. I think I had not heard of her because most of her patterns are for sizes that I do not sew for often.

However, the patterns are cool enough to tempt me to sew for these sizes!
There are so many lovely designs. Her etsy shop is serious eye candy. I want to sew them all.

She just started designing patterns for 14 inch dolls. I made her Wa-Loli dress for 14 inch dolls.

I had not hear of Wa-Loli style before, although I was familiar with the Lolita style.

Wa-Loli combines traditional Japanese clothing with the ruffle-y Lolita style.
It's so cute!

This pattern should fit most 14 inch dolls, including Wellie Wishers and Maru and Friends Mini Pals. I don't own any Wellie Wishers, and Consuelo was happy to model something new!

I learned about this pattern from Nethilia of American Girl Outsider. You can see the stunning dress that she made for her Wellie Wisher on her blog.

The pattern includes written instructions on how to sew the dress. It does not include any illustrations.
You do need a certain level of experience to sew this.

This is a really cute dress, and a great pattern, and I am very happy with it!

2017 Secret Snarker Pictures

Ludodactylus from American Girl Collectors took some pictures with the items I made for her for the Secret Snarker Swap last year.

I love seeing other people's dolls wearing things that I made! She very kindly agreed to let me share the pictures on the blog.

Here is Kirsten's quilt:

Kirsten is wearing her shawl and Samantha is wearing her ice cream dress:

The pictures are adorable! Thank you so much for sharing, Ludodactylus!

Here is my original post about Kirsten's items, and here is my original post about Samantha's dress.

Wildlife Photographer Mia

Most of you who read this blog probably don't know me in real life. So you probably don't know that I am severely hearing impaired.

I have been hearing impaired all my life, but it has gotten a lot worse in recent years.

My hearing is so bad that the only reason I don't have a cochlear implant is that I refuse to get one.
The thought of this scares me to death.

However, doctors are certain that I will need one by the time I reach retirement.

I didn't buy Mia right away. I rarely buy dolls on impulse.
I waited until I had a bad day and found her for sale with free shipping.

Halloween Plans

I do not typically do anything for Halloween with my dolls (except for the Headless Horseman).

I love Halloween.

I do not own a single AG Halloween costume or outfit.

Maybe this year I should do something about this.

Or maybe inertia will win the day.

You never know.

Addy and friends

I have been meaning for ages to get some pictures of Addy wearing her Sunday dress with her matching mini doll, and also with Ida Bean.

Ta da! There she is.

I was surprised that the fabric of Ida Bean's dress does not really match Addy's.

Mini Addy was a Secret Snarker gift from thecatsmeow.

All three dolls are stinking cute. I LOVE dolls for dolls.

I love Anne's School Jumper. It's perfect for autumn!

Anne wears this a lot. You can see other pictures here.

 She's so cute!

Introducing Meritaten

I am pleased to introduce a very special new member of the gang, Meritaten.

Meritaten is a time traveler. I have tried to get her to tell me which period she was born in, but she is being coy on that point.

Her parents are archaeologists who named her after an Egyptian princess.

She lives ruffles and pretty dresses. She is also an avid ballet dancer.

This dress is one I made from Melody Valerie's Bluebell dress pattern
You can read the blog post about it here.

Meritaten is a custom Cecile doll with brown eyes. She formerly belonged to greenchiligirl, Inky's mom.

Meritaten is a very special doll, and I am lucky to have her in my gang.

Pattern Review: Simplicity 8575

Julie doesn't get much attention at my house. That's why she was over-the-top excited to get a new dress!

This is made from Simplicity pattern 8575.

Josefina's Wardrobe: Josefina's Summer Riding Dress and Hat

I bought Josefina's Summer Riding Dress and Hat on sale before they discontinued it. This is poor Josefina's only change of clothes from her meet outfit.

Doll clothes are the focal point of my collection, apart from the dolls, so poor Josefina is neglected in that respect.

This dress has not been my favorite part of Josefina's wardrobe. Orange is not my favorite color, for one thing.

Happily, I like it much more in person. The tiny flowers on the fabric and the tucks and ruffles really do make it stunning in person.

I also just noticed that Josefina's eyebrows have some eyebrow hairs that are out of place, and I love this. It's such a realistic touch. I am not sure if all Josefinas have this, or just the older ones.

Hats are never my favorite part of AG clothes. I feel that this one does not look right on Josefina's head somehow. However, it is nicely made.

I know that the modern beach setting in these pictures does not match Josefina's story at all. She is lucky to get out of the house and have her picture taken, so she just has to put up with it.

Overall, I am really happy with this outfit and I am sure Josefina is happy to have a change of clothes.

Felicity and Penny

Here are some pictures of Felicity and Penny, reunited! They look very happy together.

You really can't see Penny's remaining imperfections in the pictures!

I love Felicity's riding habit. The color is lush, and it just looks like such a luxurious historical piece of clothing. It's so nicely made.

Even though both the riding habit and the doll are  made by the Pleasant Company, the skirt does not always want to stay on.

And it doesn't show in these pictures, but the feather on her hat has totally disintegrated with age.

Still, it's utterly gorgeous.

Felicity is my first love and I am happy that I can spoil her with Penny.
