Pattern review: Keepers Dolly Duds Parade Day

 I made the Keepers Dolly Duds Parade Day pattern.

This was a quick and easy pattern.

The top of the blouse has some pleating, but it was easy to do.

The skirt and jacket were very easy.

If you are intimidated by sewing asymmetrical patterns, I think that this jacket would be a good one to start with.

I really wanted to make the jacket a solid color, but I was using what was in the house. I couldn't find a solid color fabric that coordinated.

As a result, the blouse, skirt and jacket are all three different florals. I think it works.

Anyway, it can be used for mix and match.

Here is a picture of the dress from Parade Day with the jacket from Church Tea. This combination works too!

Pattern Review: Keepers Dolly Duds Church Tea

 I made the dress and jacket from Keepers Dolly Duds Church Tea.

The dress was very easy to make. It has two pleats in the front of the dress. The fabric that I used ended up holding the pleats so well that I may use it for other patterns with pleats.

The jacket was the challenging part because it has scalloped edges.

I was very careful. I drew the sewing line on the fabric, sewed along the line, and ironed a lot.

My scallops are still not as clear as the ones on the pattern picture. I'm a little disappointed, but it doesn't look too bad.

I didn't make the jacket collar in a contrasting color, as the pattern called for. I had already made the dress in a different fabric, and I didn't want to add in another element.

Overall, I am about 90% happy with this outfit.

Liberty Jane Oxford Square Coat

 This is not my first time making the Liberty Jane Oxford square coat. 

You can see the first one that I sewed in this blog post.

I thoughtfully left myself a note on the pattern pieces to add about half an inch to the front of the coat so that is can close.

This came in super handy when I made this pattern again. I also added hook and loop tape so that the front of the coat can fasten that way.

Jess is my model, and she is beautiful as always.

I am really happy with this coat. I feel like the black and white herringbone fabric gives it a classy and realistic look.

Halloween Clothes

 I swear I made these Halloween dresses in time for Halloween. I posted them on Instagram and forgot to put them on the blog!

I was inspired by someone else's sewing project to want to make some long sleeve Halloween dresses.

This fabric was the best doll scaled Halloween fabric that they had. I paid $2.50 for a half yard and made two dresses out of it. So much better than AG prices!

I used 123 Mulberry Street Baby Doll dress pattern yet again. It's so easy and it has long sleeves, that makes it tempting.

I think I may have made the skirts a little too long and I am tempted to shorten them.

I am also tempted to add a belt or something a jazz it up a bit.

I made the leggings out of a T-shirt and a Simplicity pattern.

So not my favorite project ever, but quick and satisfying.

Jess and Zia are still wearing these dresses. I need to change their clothes.

I made the tiny books too. They are The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch and Hocus Pocus and the All New Sequel. I do love tiny books.

Pattern Review: Suzy M Studio Boat Neck Raglan

 Another outfit that I made from my old shirt!

This one is from the pattern Suzy M Studio Boatneck Raglan. The pattern is available on Etsy.

The pattern has more variations available than I realized before I printed it out!

The variations include long, 3/4 and short sleeves, as well as Asymmetrical, Sharkbite, Above the knee or High-low dress.

I think the Asymmetrical dress might be my favorite, actually. 

Because I was trying to get as many outfits as I could from my shirt, I used the Above the knee dress pattern.

I made the skirt a bit longer than the pattern calls for, so it actually hits Jess at the knee.

I used the long sleeves because dolls never have enough long sleeved clothes. 

I  also felt that these colors are great for fall clothes.

This dress is a more sophisticated look for an older doll, maybe a teenage doll.

I usually consider my dolls to be ten years old, but what the hey, I was in the mood for this pattern.

This was very easy to make, and I definitely would be open to trying other variations from this pattern someday!

Jess Mold Week

 This is Jess Mold week on Instagram, so I just wanted to share some of my beautiful Jess molds!

Jess molds are so beautiful. I would love to see AG make more Jess mold dolls with different hair and eye combinations. Fantasy hair would be cool too!

I got some really cute pictures of Joss together with her best friend Sophie today.

Jess is standing in for Sophie. ;)

Joss and Jess are such similar names, it is confusing!

I like to think that they are talking their heads off.

Spring is here

It's still rather chilly here, but it is sunny enough that I am itching to change doll clothes and take pictures of them.

I don't know about you, but I get sort of restless when my dolls have been wearing the same thing for too long.
I like a change of visuals.

I put Nanea in the yellow dress from last year's Secret Snarker. I love it on her! She looks adorable!

 Honestly, it was almost too sunny for good pictures. The sun was casting shadows on the dolls' faces.

I could get used to seeing the sun on a regular basis!

If you look closely, you can still see some snow on the ground behind Nanea.

Jess got to wear the starfish dress.

It looks good on her. Everything does!

Fall clothing

The dolls are changing into warmer clothing for fall.

Jess added a jacket and a pussy hat over her sundress.

She doesn't want to take the jellies off yet, though!

Kit put a sweater on over her dress.

They both look much warmer this way!

Jess on the Beach

Jess is just a gorgeous doll, who looks good in everything.

Beach setting, check.

Jellies, check.

Wait. Jellies?

I loved jellies as a kid. I wore them all summer long. I was so happy to find these Our Generation jellies at Target.

I feel like the stripes on the bottom of the shoes don't really match.
But whatever.

I am so happy to have jellies in my doll wardrobe! Shoes are not usually my favorite, but I LOVE these jellies.

Patio Furniture

I am so excited with my new doll patio furniture set!

I have had the table for a couple of years. I got it at Hobby Lobby. It is collapsible and lies flat for storage, which is awesome.

I went to look at the doll stuff at a Wal-Mart in the nearest large town to me, because a friend wants the Wal-Mart exclusive African-American rock climber Barbie.

I did not find the Barbie (no one seems to be able to actually find it in store) but I did find the My Life As Adirondack chairs!

They were $7 each, and a lovely shade of blue that matched the table I already had!
So naturally I had to have them. They had three there, and I bought two. Now I am questioning whether I should have gotten the third as well. They stack for storage, which is great.

The chairs seem very sturdy, and the price is great.

Jess and Saige enjoyed the set up!

For some reason, I was having more trouble posing Jess than Saige to look natural in the chairs.

I look forward to using this a LOT to get good doll photographs as the weather gets nicer!

Jess

This is one of the posts where I just wanna share some pretty pictures.

I have been combating the winter blues by changing doll clothes.

Jess looks good in everything, and this dress from the mix and match line is no exception.

I am glad that they included working pockets on this dress. That always adds something to a doll outfit.

I would like to see more clothes in the pretty coral color they used to accent the neckline and pockets.

I hate corduroy, but I am willing to make an exception in this case!
