Kanani's Swimsuit

I remember when American Girl came out with their first swimsuit for modern girls. I am not sure off the top of my head if it was before or after Samantha's swimsuit, which was the first swimsuit for historical dolls, but it was around the same time.

I was really excited, because mt best friend, who also loved AG at the time, was on a swim team. I thought she would be thrilled.

Pattern Review: Wren*Feathers Viking Outfit

I made the Wren*Feathers' Viking outfit. This is a tweak of her Princess Costume patterns.

The outfit consists of a white under dress, a blue double-sided apron, and a white cap.

Whitewater Effigy Mounds

I am so pleased to have obtained another piece of Kaya's meet outfit.

American Girl Collectors member D.Madison won Kaya's belt, which she didn't need, in a lot of doll items on ebay and generously offered it to me. Thank you so much!

To celebrate, Kaya and I went to Whitewater Effigy Mounds Preserve.

At the Lake

Kanani got to go to the lake yesterday!

She enjoyed the beach and the water.

I went on a canoe ride, but she stayed on shore and played in the sand..

She is hoping to come again, and to bring friends with her!

Great Doll Blog award

I was nominated for a blog award by two of my favorite people in the AG fandom, mcooper and randomtraci of Isn't She Dovely?
Thanks, guys!

Award Rules:
Thank the person that nominated you.
Answer the questions given to you.
Nominate at least 5 others who you think has a great doll blog.
Notify them that they have an award.
Leave them at least 5 questions to answer.

I nominate  Keiko and CompanyJinjia Mixed GoodsSabine the GreatFaithful Friends Forever Be and The Interdimensional Crew.

My questions:
1. What is your least favorite outfit that AG has ever released?

I hate Felicity's red holiday dress with the fake jewels on front. It looks tacky and out of scale. But that red vinyl jumper from the JLY line is also revolting.
Nonetheless, I do like the color red!

2. Which AG doll is your grail doll?

I got Kanani! What more can I ask for?
Well, I do keep looking at #4. And lately I have been drooling over #55.
But I am trying to be happy with the lovely dolls that I already have!

3. Do any of your dolls have a common, shared personality trait?

I don't think so? They do tend to be like me in some way, though. But it's different for each doll.

4. What's your favorite pet/companion?

The only pet I own is Meatloaf, who is Laura Ingall's dog Jack, so I guess he wins!
Lea's turtle and the Pomeranian puppy are pretty cool too.

5. What is your favorite piece of AG furniture?

I love Addy's bed, because it goes well with lots of different quilts. It's very versatile!
Most of the other beds have a specific color scheme.

Questions for my nominees:

1. What styles do your dolls prefer to wear?
2. Do your dolls have favorite colors to wear?
3. What is the most adventurous thing you have done with a doll?
4. What accessory would you love to have for your doll, whether already in existence or not?
5. What is your favorite picture of your dolls?

Faithful Friends

These two dresses are both 1930s styles, and both made from the same fabric.

Yet they look so different!

Saige and Jess look like they are having fun together!

Pattern Review: Keeper's Dolly Duds 1930s Frock

This is a pattern that I have owned for a while, and I am ashamed that it has taken me so long to use it.

This is Keeper's Dolly Duds 1930s Frock, and  it is beautiful.

My brain is currently just overflowing with ideas for the many different combinations of color and fabric that I can use with this pattern.

I think that the dresses are just too lovely.

Cousins

I have four female cousins, all at the same age. They are still too little for AG. I have been thinking about them, though, and I want to be able to sew doll clothes for them when they reach the right age.

I recently won an auction of two AG dolls, with the intention of cleaning them up and giving them  to my cousins when they are old enough. This may be a mistake, because I might get attached to the dolls and keep them.

The dolls are MY AG 28 and 41. I am calling them Violet and Amelia. You will probably be seeing them on here as doll models.

The outfit that Amelia came in cracks me up:

Violet had on mismatching earrings:

Violet already has been acting as a model for me, and Amelia's turn will be soon!

Pattern Review: Heritage Doll Fashions 1930s Gathered Dress

I like dresses that use two different fabrics. Part of the best part of designing a doll dress or a quilt, for me, is finding colors and fabrics that work beautifully with each other.

This time, I used Heritage Doll Fashion's 1930s Gathered Dress to make two different dresses.
The pattern can be found on Pixie Faire.

Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio

I am a huge fan of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Mini Lea and I got to tour his home and studio in Oak Park, Illinois recently. It is really beautiful. It is somewhat atypical of his style, as he was experimenting. Many of the elements in this home can be found in his lovely Prairie Style homes. And there are lots of Prairie Style homes to see, just around the corner!

Christmas Dress for Nanea

I decided that Nanea needed a Christmas dress. I am surprised that AG hasn't made one for her. I wanted to make a green one to go with ...
