Doll Musings

I just retrieved some of my dolls from a closet at my parent's house. To be specific, my First Arrival Felicity, Kit, and my Hearts for Hearts dolls. There will be lots of pictures to come!

It just struck me, how much more peaceful I felt when I had them in my arms. Mind you, I was worried up until that moment because I couldn't find them.

But they really, really mean something to me and I feel so much better with the dolls in my life.

My mother is a minimalist and I feel bad that I am not, that I need my dolls. And I am a grown woman.

There are so many people who look down on dolls as a hobby, you know? It's not something you share a lot, unless you are very confident in yourself. I share on this blog, but I don't share my dolls much in Real Life.

Still, it doesn't hurt anyone, it makes me happy, and I am not going to change anything soon.

The gang is definitely here to stay!

  1. I just want to say thank you for this post. I am also an adult doll collector and know what you mean about it being a looked down on hobby. Whenever I buy fabric, the cashier inevitably asks "what are you making?" and when I say "doll dresses", she'll stop and look at me like I'm crazy! I agree with you though. My dolls don't hurt anybody and they make me happy😁. I look forward to seeing more pictures of your gang!

    1. Thank you for your reply! I definitely have the same problem when I buy fabric for doll clothes at Joanns.

  2. Hi, I'm from Australia, I'm 43, writing from my doll room, my happy place. It has taken time to get used to not caring what people think of my collecting play line dolls, made easier when I discovered the work colleague slightly older than myself that I sat next to, was collecting play line Lego. We over the recommended age toy collectors are out there just hidden in unexpected places.

  3. I've always been pretty lucky that my family and friends have been very supportive of my hobby. I know how you feel about your dolls, I have a lot of fun making and collecting things for them. And I've met some awesome fellow doll collectors!
